Lots of good opportunities this week for photos, the highlight being given the opportunity to join one of the PLA rowing teams (as a passenger!) in ‘Penelope’ on the river. Lots of muscle, sweat and power needed ... by me to get in the boat! Not a lot of room to take photos but I was very pleased with the results all of which can be seen on the Places and Events page or by clicking here. Thanks to Lee, Jon, Derek, John x 2 and Alex for having me abroad and putting up with me flashing! I tried lots of different techniques including holding the flash in one hand and the camera in the other, using the monopod with the remote release to take overhead and side shots and deliberately under-exposing the background whilst giving the flash more power. I’m looking forward to coming out again.

Yet another walk along Gravesend front meant a few more pictures of the river and boats from different angles - some of which were taken just before it rained which has given them a bit more of an atmosphere with some great reflections on the river.

On Friday just as I got off the ferry in Tilbury I noticed a couple of Shellducks with their ducklings. The Thames looked a very scary place for such small creatures!

Yesterday (Saturday) we popped down to Minnis Bay on the Kent coast for a meal. It was very sunny but there was a cold wind. We stayed ‘till just after sunset which gave me some good photos with the the wind farm in the distance as the sun set and some long exposures with the tripod.

Today we spent most of the time tidying up the garden but I took a few pictures of the bee ‘hive’ which is tucked under the eaves of the shed. The bees were going in and out all day but I didn’t get one picture (in focus) of one of the bees landing - can’t win them all!

Lets hope the good weather lasts a bit longer ...
